In the Beginning
The Big Hatch
Before Eggonia there was only darkness — and, held inside it, the mysterious Cosmic Egg. Nobody knows who laid it. Nobody knows how long it waited.
Then it cracked. That moment is named The Big Hatch, and the primordial power it released poured out and shaped everything: the sky, the sea, the stone, and the world itself — a world shaped like an egg.
From the shell of the Cosmic Egg came three enormous shapes, each carrying about a third of that power. The Three Legendary Birds.

The Law of Three
Eggonia stays in balance only while all three Legendary Birds are alive.
They do not have to agree. They do not have to be free. They do not have to be peaceful. They only have to be alive. This is why the Thunderbird can never be destroyed — only defeated, and imprisoned.
The Great Conflict
The Phoenix's Sacrifice
The Thunderbird unleashed a storm that would have ended the world, and the balance of the Three shattered. To stop it, the Phoenix gave up its physical existence — it did not die, but it vanished from the world, and the storm died with its going. The Thunderbird was left terribly weakened.
Nothing that great disappears completely. What was left of the Phoenix scattered — and so did what was torn from the Thunderbird.
The Seven Golden Eggs
The Phoenix's essence became seven eggs, each holding a virtue: Strength, Wisdom, Light, Compassion, Hope, Courage and Transformation. Each waits for the hero destined to learn what its virtue truly means.
The Seven Shadow Eggs
Seven feathers torn from the Thunderbird in the battle became their darker counterparts: Cruelty, Fear, Chaos, Greed, Deception, Fury and Despair. Golden virtues need connection. Shadow forces thrive on being alone.
Why Shells Are Forever
The Curse of the Unfinished Hatching
The Phoenix was tied to the natural cycle of hatching. With the Phoenix gone from the world, that cycle was left incomplete — and the Ovani could no longer hatch all the way. Their shells stopped being something they grew out of and became a permanent part of their bodies.
It was never a punishment. It is simply what happens when balance breaks. Most Ovani today have no idea their shells were ever meant to come off at all — and that one day, they still might.
